Includes the updated version of following products:

•    HW24 List Rollup version 7.0.130
•    HW05 Alert Plus version 4.0.84

Resolved Bugs:

•    Timesheet Period Status column was not updated when timesheets were Auto-approved.
•    Timesheets were not saved when "Collapse all the Project  Name groups by default" option in the Timesheet Entry Web Part was enabled.
•    If one item in the timesheet tasks list did not have a due date, some items in the list with due dates may not have been displayed in the Timesheet Entry Web Part.   NOTE:  By design, tasks without due dates are not displayed.
•    When due date has not value on one or more tasks, Time Entry Web Part does not list all assigned tasks.

New Known Issues:

•    When PM Central 4.3 (SP2010) is integrated with TTM 2.5, reports that get content from TTM and are rendered in PM Central display an error message.
•    Java script error is displayed on the Timesheet Entry page when accessed with IE 10 on UAG.   This error is caused by the IE configuration.   See the link below for information on how to resolve:    http://www.itsupportforum.net/topic/internet-explorer-automation-server-cant-create-object/
•    If using TTM in https/UAG environment with IE 10,  Bamboo recommends using Compatibility  mode.

•    After upgrading for TTM 1.7 to 2.0 the error message "Access Denied: You must have Full Control or be a member of  a Report Center group to view the reports." is displayed when the logged in user belongs to an AD group that was granted permission to the Report Center via the  Reporting.aspx  and the Web Part's Permissions Settings. To resolve the issue access the Report Center Web Part's configuration tool pane, then click Save > Apply > OK.

New Limitations:

•    The Resource ID cannot get value if Timesheet User is a SharePoint group or AD group.
•    User Interface - If the header column width is narrow down, the text of the grid footer will be cut off. This is the limitation of the Telerik radgrid control.
•    Grouping is case-insensitive in Report Center reports. For example, in a report that groups timesheet data by project, data from two different projects with names "Project A" and "project a" will be grouped together.
•    When adding views to the Report Views field for an item in the Report Configuration list, view names are case-sensitive. For example, "Approved Timesheets" and "approved timesheets" are not the same. The text must match the view name configured in the Timesheets list exactly.

How to upgrade Discussion Board Plus from previous versions to current version R2.5

The purpose of the Upgrade Utility is to update data from previous versions to the current version, such as number of Replies, Views and more.

You must run the Upgrade Utility in the following cases:

  • If you are upgrading this product from versions 1.0 or 1.5 to version 2.0, or the current version 2.5
  • If you are migrating this product from SP2010 to SP2013 R2.0 or R2.5

When running Discussion Board Plus Upgrade Control on the Setup, in order to upgrade, the User Interface didn’t use to look professional. In our new upgrade, we’ve designed a new user interface that’s easier to use.

In R2.5, we have moved the Upgrade Utility to the Central Administrator page. When you’re ready to upgrade the data, you’ll need to follow the steps listed below:

After installing Discussion Board Plus onto your server, go to Central Administrator page → scroll down to click Upgrade Utility under Bamboo Discussion Board Plus Settings section.

Note: If there are errors related to resource files, see further instructions at the bottom of the article.

Here you have two options:

  • Upgrade Discussion Board Plus lists in a Site Collection: If you want to upgrade only one site collection, enter the site collection URL into the textbox and click the OK button.
  • Upgrade Discussion Board Plus lists in a Web Application: If you want to upgrade a web application, enter the web application URL into the textbox and click the OK button.

After running Upgrade Utility, return to your site and click F5 to refresh the page. Everything should show up correctly now.

We’d like to show you some problems related to resource files, which you can see in the upgrade process.

After installing Discussion Board Plus, the product shows an error page when you click on “Upgrade Utility” or “E-mail Settings”. This is usually due to the resource files not being copied to the global resources folder (App Global Resources) of the web application, following solution deployment. This may happen if the SharePoint Timer service account did not have the appropriate permissions to successfully execute custom job(s) that are scheduled during deployment. Please see: https://store.bamboosolutions.com/KB/Article.aspx?id=11785

Resolution:The following command will copy the resource files required at the web application level from their locations in the 14 or 15 hive CONFIG folder, to the correct location in each web application on the server.

Note: this is not a farm-wide command, it must be invoked on each server in the farm that is running the Web Application Service.

Let’s look at the following steps:

  1. Run cmd by Administrator permission
  2. Type cd C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\15\BIN
  3. Run stsadm.exe -o copyappbincontent
  4. Next, return to Central Administrator and click refresh page. It will display the content as expected

Bamboo Push Email Service: Create a topic via email

Base SharePoint does not support fully functioning email post/reply or has different ways of working with SharePoint lists. Thus, you need to configure different e-mail addresses for each SharePoint List. This is a significant limitation when you want to send emails to create, or reply to, various threads in multiple Discussion Board Plus lists on the same site collection or web application. (Learn more here.)

In Discussion Board Plus R2.5, we’ve introduced a fully collaborative element between Outlook and SharePoint lists. Now multiple lists can use a single email to receive data. The purpose of this feature is to save users time spent on configuring email addresses for each list.  Of course, the email template must include the list information when you send an email.

This release is supported by Exchange 2010, Exchange 2013 and Exchange Office 365.

Note: List title might not have the same title following WAD of base SharePoint.

In this article, we’ll show you how to configure E-mail Settings to create threads/topics on multiple Discussion Board Plus lists via an MS Exchange.

How to configure E-mail Settings

Go to Central Administrator Page → click on E-mail Settings

Discussion Board Plus

Provide information on the page:

  • Site Collection: Select a site collection. For example: http://serverchauo15
  • Exchange service URL: For example: https://172.0.0.8 or https://outlook.office365.com
  • Email address: For example: account@domain.com or account@domain.onmicrosoft.com
  • Username: For example: domain\account or account@domain.onmicrosoft.com
  • Password: enter your email password

Click OK.

Create a topic via email

First of all, you must create a Discussion Board Plus list on your site as pictured below.

Go to MS Exchange to create a thread/topic with the following email templates:

1. Template #1-Use list title inside it.

To:provide the email which is configured in the list setting or in Central Admin

Subject:the topic title

Body:

                List: {provide a list title}

                Enter your email body

Here's an example of creating a regular topic:

After Timer Job ran, refresh your site to see new thread in DB+ list

Click on the topic to see the content.

2. Template #2-Use list URL

To:provide the email which is configured in the list setting or in Central Admin

Subject:the topic title

Body:

                List: {provide a list URL}

Type in the body of your email

After Timer Job ran, refresh your site to see new thread in DB+ list.

Click on the topic to see the content.

Note: If you want to run Timer Job to receive email immediately, read What’s new in Discussion Board Plus R2.5 - Part 3 of 6.

What Does the Future Hold? - Unity Connect Keynote

Unity Connect kicked off with a must-attend, in-depth conversation with Spencer Harbar, Scot Hillier and Dan Holme, who talked about the current state of SharePoint and Office 365. They addressed many pressing questions about what customers can expect from SharePoint 2016 and voiced their support of migrating to the Cloud.

Without further ado, we’d like to share with you what we’ve learned at the opening keynote session.

The three Microsoft experts discussed the concerns that many businesses have about moving to the Cloud, however, they emphasized that the numerous tools online and the vast information available make it beneficial to make this change. According to these experts, Office 365, which contains SharePoint, is one of the first steps towards creating a business solution that transcends tech visions we’ve had before, and it will empower us to work more efficiently.

They also suggest that being a Microsoft customer today means that we have a lot more flexibility to work with the tools we truly need. They see the Cloud as Microsoft’s ability to innovate and to serve their customers with improved solutions. They predict that businesses will no longer be able to solve their problems with the old ways, and will need to look to the new technology to spearhead positive changes and get results. If we have a well-functioning core platform –they reason – we can solely focus on running that efficiently and, ideally, the rest of our business problems will fade away. Owing to this unified platform, we can–as Mr. Harbar phrased, – “free ourselves of the shackles of outdated IT controls on what we can do.” And while the transition may hold a lot of change management pain, we do need these new methods to solve the problems we face today as individual end-users, and collectively, as businesses.

While discussing migration to the Cloud, Mr. Holme asked the audience to raise their hands if they were excited about the process. Then he asked for another show of hands, this time to see how many of us worked for businesses that were reluctant to move online. The same people raised their hands both times. To ease businesses’ worries, Harbar, Hillier, and Holme have made a compelling argument for migration: Microsoft Cloud gives us the power to pull together all of Microsoft’s tools and build an incredible, new user experience we’ve never seen before. For instance, SharePoint, Exchange, and OneNote used together can yield an enhanced and fresh user experience.

They consider SharePoint 2016 a small but significant part of the puzzle. While it won’t introduce significant end-user capabilities, it’s a step in the journey of refining tools and creating hybrid solutions with great business value. The value of SharePoint 2016 lies in its key role in the evolvement of hybrid solutions that will open up a world of opportunity by allowing us to unify our access to information from disparate sources.

The experts have concluded that we need to be ready to move to the Cloud and start planning user adoption. They argue that we need to be prepared because we can face new challenges anytime, which we could only resolve with the new technology only the Cloud offers. “Concerns about the changes hinder progress, so they need to go away,” Harbar stated. What’s important is that businesses overcome these challenges together. Because the technology is evolving so fast, organizations have to come together and rely on all their members: leaders, IT admins, and end-users.

Friday Fun: 5 Things to Look Forward to This Fall

After all, we know there are things better than pumpkin spice out there.

1. The launch of Microsoft Surface Pro 4

We’ve heard about the specs of the new tablet and are psyched to get our hands on them. Who wouldn’t want a beefier processor than that of the Surface Pro 3 and faster speed than what other laptops have to offer

2. The Release of Knowledge Base

We’re working on a major release of our popular knowledge management application. We can tell you that significant changes are coming to the user interface, which we think you’ll really enjoy!

3. Season 6 of The Walking Dead

Netflix has released Season 5 shortly before the new season’s premiere, so we’ve had plenty of time to binge-watch and catch up. After the season premiere on October 11, we can’t wait to know where our heroes are heading next.

4. The U.S. release of Yoshi’s Woolly World

There’s something knitted and cute that we’re very much looking forward to in October. Hint: It’s not sweaters. We’re talking about Yoshi’s Woolly World, a game in which we’ll get to see our favorite Nintendo dinosaur take (a yarn-and-cloth) shape. It’s not like we’ve been listening to its OST since June…

5. All the New Star Wars: The Force Awakens Merchandise

Kids and adults alike have been thrilled about the new series of games and collectibles. But aren’t toys just a fun distraction from the fact that we still have to wait 62 more days until the movie’s premier? If we were to assemble only 83 pieces of Lego’sUltimate Collector’s Millennium Falcon model every day, we might just stay busy until December 18th

What are you looking forward to this Fall?

What's New in List Search Simple Web Part R2.5?

$

1. Keyboard Accessibility (Choice/Lookup Fields)

With its user-friendly, simple search interface, the List Search Web Part makes it easy for you to find what you are looking for. Offering powerful search options, it allows you to target specific SharePoint lists and columns, without you having to create indexes or search scopes.

One of the limitations of previous versions is the drop-down controls used for Choice and Lookup search fields that do not allow tabbed navigation or selection using shortcut keys. This lack of accessibility may be a deal breaker for organizations requiring Section 508 compliance. Thus, the primary purpose of this release is to improve usability, accessibility, and styling issues in the product. In this article, we’ll show you how to use a basic keyboard for Choice and Lookup search fields.

The latest release of Simple Search empowers you to do the following actions:

Moving between search fields (TAB/SHIFT+TAB)

Entering or deleting text input in fields (auto-complete based on input)

Selecting/de-selecting menu Items (ARROWS/SPACE/ENTER/BACK)

Submitting searches (ENTER)

2. SharePoint 2013 Search: Callout Preview Menu

In Release 2.5, Simple Search provides you with the option to enable or disable the Callouts menu in search results for Document libraries, Asset libraries, Image libraries, and Pages libraries. This will improve your search experience and better align the product with the functionality of base SharePoint 2013.

(Note: Callout Menu Requirement for SharePoint 2013 only)

3. Select List Views to Display Search Results

A common request we receive from our customers is the capability to select an existing list view at runtime to determine which columns will be displayed in the search results. Thus, in release 2.5, Simple Search provides users with an option in the web part settings that allows selecting a list view before trigger search. Enabling “Display List View Selector” will surface the available list views in the search interface.

4. Highlight Terms in Search Results

You can now quickly locate relevant information at-a-glance, owing to callout previous menus and the capability to highlight search terms in the results.

An option to enable or disable this feature will be available in the web part settings –

Search terms will be highlighted in the search results if this option is enabled –

5. "Fill in" Choice Selection

In previous versions, if a choice column allowed “fill in” choices, the same choices were not available for selection in our control. In our latest release, Simple Search allows you to show your own value with Choice (Fill in)

User specified choices should be available for selection from the drop down list.
